The artwork for the original travel poster was created by William Bustard during the 1930's. Published for the Queensland Government Tourist Bureau and printed by David Whyte, Acting Government Printer.
Lindeman Island is part of the Lindeman Group of the Whitsunday Islands situated off the Queensland Coast, Australia. The Island was formed after a volcanic mountain range was submerged by the rising sea level.
Reginald Ansett of Ansett Australia realised the potential of the area and commenced planning air services in the 1940’s. Barrier Reef Airways began flying boat services to a number of islands including Lindeman in 1952. Ansett introduced Proserpine or Whitsunday Coast Airport in 1957 which received light aircraft to the island.
