The Artwork for the original colour lithographic poster was created for the Victorian Railways in the 1930's. The design features a black and white photographic image superimposed over a coloured mountain landscape. Victorian Railways certainly got good value from this piece, I remember this particular poster was still being displayed on Melbourne's "Red Rattlers" in the early 1960's.
Marysville is a beautiful a small town, 34 kilometres north-east of Healesville and 41 kilometres south of Alexandra, in the Shire of Murrindindi in Victoria, Australia. The message was the "Tallest Trees in the British Empire", the old growth Beech forests in the Upper Taggerty catchment.
On 7 February 9 Marysville was devastated by the "Black Saturday" bushfire . The official death toll was 45 and 90% of the town's buildings were destroyed.
